Our Services
We believe that everyone can play a part in transforming our communities.
Advocacy – Empowering Our Community
At Stella Community, we are dedicated to championing the rights and needs of individuals within our community. Through our volunteer advocacy service, we strive to empower individuals to navigate bureaucracy challenges, access resources they are entitled to, and effect positive change in their lives.
What We Do
Advocacy Support
We provide personalised advocacy support to disadvantaged people facing various challenges, particularly difficulties they may face in accessing disability and aged care services, healthcare access, and social services such as Centrelink and Medicare.
Information and Referrals
Our knowledgeable team offers information and referrals to relevant community resources, ensuring individuals have access to the support they need. We work closely with the Bowen Neighbourhood Centre, to ensure people’s whole of life circumstances are considered and assisted where possible.
Community Education
We conduct workshops and outreach programs to raise awareness about key issues affecting our community and empower individuals with knowledge and tools to advocate for themselves and others.
Our Values (ECHO)
Empowerment
We believe in empowering individuals to advocate for their rights and needs, fostering self-determination and autonomy.
Collaboration
We collaborate with community organisations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to collectively address systemic issues and create positive change.
Holistic
We are committed to offering holistic support, ensuring that our services consider the whole of a person’s life.
One
We value diversity, and will assist any disadvantaged person regardless of their background or abilities.

Neighbourhood HEART
Neighbourhood HEART is our FREE service that helps people connect with others who live near them by offering support or assistance on a volunteer basis.
Stella Community is committed to supporting people to step outside their homes and connect with their neighbours. Our vision is to improve everyone’s sense of belonging, safety and support in their local neighbourhood.
We know that everyone benefits from community life, kindness and inclusiveness and through our Neighbourhood Heart program we facilitate the formation of neighbourhood hubs, supporting people to become community volunteers and connecting these volunteers with older people, people with disability and other vulnerable individuals in their local neighbourhood.
We believe that with neighbour support, people will enjoy more social connections, improved mental health, become less socially isolated, be happier and experience improved safety and wellbeing as their informal network of support is strengthened and expanded. Ideally this support will result in older people being able to stay in their own homes for longer and people with disability and other vulnerable individuals being more included in their community.
Would you or someone you know like to access support from our FREE Neighbourhood HEART program? Please complete our referral form and tell us a bit more about yourself.
Pawsome Nannies
Do you love your pet and need someone to care for it for a short time, or permanently, because your life has changed?
If you are going on holidays, into a nursing home or supported accommodation house (permanently or for respite) or have to move to another place because you are no longer able to care for yourself, we have people who are prepared to love your pet, and arrange visits to you with your pet so you can keep the special bond alive.
LET US BE A PART OF YOUR AND YOUR PRECIOUS PET’S FAMILY!
Our Stella Community volunteers will adopt your pet for a short or longer time. If you'd like to access this service, please complete our referral form and tell us more about yourself and your precious pet.
